Bespoke kitchen in pure maple for a country couple

The original brief for this sixties house kitchen was to replace like for like, but with bulthaup furniture. Our Design Consultant saw that the cooking and dining spaces would work much better if combined, and recommended taking down the wall between.

At first the clients were unsure - they had enjoyed the separate rooms for many years. Then they came to see the benefits of the new design for them, using bulthaup furniture in both spaces to make the room a whole.

"The design advice and guidance has transformed our lives!"

They chose the delicate maple wood for all the kitchen units and for the 'floating sideboard in the dining area, loving the careful matching of the wood's grain across adjacent units. A crisp 10mm laminate surface completed the look on the island, around the sink, and the sideboard.

The 'water point' is another bulthaup 'special' - two large sinks seamlessly welded into the worktop, with a supremely functional bulthaup tap and a chopping board that slides between the sinks and draining area.

A set of Miele ovens and warming drawers are neatly lined up across the end of the kitchen, leaving the island to be a second preparation area next to the hob.

The final touch was to commission bulthaup for the utility room, which also houses a big fridge. The room is designed with Greige laminate cupboards and worktop, a bulthaup sink and draining areas, washing machine, tumble drier, and - 'la piece de resistance' - an overhead Pulleymaid clothes drier.
