Transforming a countryside villa

Sarah and John had moved from London to the countryside in 1990 and with the family growing up they were ready to make major changes to their Victorian house. The previous kitchen was rather dark, cold, and with no view to the lovely garden. It was also 'shut away' from everyone else in the house.

The decision was made to move the kitchen into what had been the dining room and to build an extension alongside this to create a big open kitchen, dining and living space. The architect helped to create the new space, but Sarah and John could not find the right kitchen. After visiting eight showrooms and being disappointed by lack of design, interest and quality, John came to Winchester for a final search.

This brought him to bulthaup Winchester where he immediately liked the combination of the bulthaup materials and design simplicity. After speaking to our Design Consultant, John was confident he was working with someone who both listened and and could create kitchen design ideas in line with their requirements. He and Sarah chose a contemporary kitchen for their country home - bulthaup b3 in elm and white laminate with Siemens appliances. This provided the mix of warmth and simplicity that they desired.

And the biggest bonus - when Sarah is in the kitchen she is in contact with the family and has beautiful views across her garden and orchard.
